The Katsushika Noryo Fireworks Festival (Katsushika Noryo Hanabi Taikai) is a fireworks festival held annually in late July on the Edogawa Riverbank in Shibamata, Katsushika Ward, Tokyo.
Overview:
The festival began in 1953 (Showa 28) and was initially organized by the Katsushika Ward Tourism Association, known as “Shibamata no Hanabi” (Fireworks of Shibamata). In 1980 (Showa 55), it became a joint event co-hosted by Katsushika Ward. Approximately 13,000 fireworks are launched during the festival, attracting about 680,000 spectators. The close proximity of the launching site to the audience provides a powerful and impressive fireworks display.
