Kazuhiko Inoue 50th Anniversary Performance KAzz’s “Enigma Variations” 2024

In a remote Norwegian island, Nobel Prize-winning author Abel Znorko lives in solitude when he receives a visit from local newspaper journalist Eric Larsen. Larsen arrives to interview Znorko about his latest novel, “Love Concealed in the Heart,” which is already being hailed as Znorko’s greatest work yet.

Znorko’s previous works had largely been philosophical novels, but his latest is a departure: a love story composed of correspondence between a man and a woman. It is acclaimed for its depth and emotional resonance. Larsen seeks to learn if the novel’s characters were inspired by real people and why the exchange of letters abruptly stopped.

Znorko’s responses to Larsen’s inquiries are enigmatic and unsatisfactory, leaving Larsen with more questions than answers. At the same time, Larsen’s questions seem to hold deeper significance, leaving Znorko perplexed.

As the period of the midnight sun comes to an end and the first evening in half a year approaches, a shocking truth about both men and their connection to the novel’s story begins to unfold.
