Kitakami Tenshochi Sakura Festival 2024
北上展勝地さくらまつり (Kitakami Takamatsu Sakura Festival) in 2023 took place from April 15 (Saturday) to April 30 (Sunday). During this period, sightseeing carriages traveled along the fully bloomed cherry blossom-lined streets, and in the evening, the illuminated cherry blossoms were reflected on the surface of the river.
Kitakami Takamatsu is a park along the Kitakami River in Iwate Prefecture and is counted among the “Michinoku Three Great Cherry Blossom Spots.” Approximately 10,000 cherry trees of about 150 varieties are in full bloom, and the park features a distinctive 2 km-long cherry blossom corridor. The optimal viewing period for cherry blossoms is from mid to late April.
