Imperial Palace Autumn leaves best time to see 2024
The nature-rich East Gardens of the Imperial Palace adorned with autumn foliage:
Situated in the former Honmaru, Ninomaru, and Sannomaru of Edo Castle, the East Gardens of the Imperial Palace are open to the public. In the Ninomaru wooded area, designed to replicate the nature of Musashino as per the intention of Emperor Showa, a variety of trees such as oak, sawtooth oak, and Japanese maple have been planted. As autumn arrives, around mid-November each year, the trees display vibrant red and yellow foliage, creating a stunning autumnal scene.
Highlights:
During the annual public openings of the Imperial Palace Dry Moat in spring for cherry blossoms and in autumn for fall foliage, visitors can enjoy the autumn colors near the Otemon Gate and the Lotus Pond, areas not usually accessible to the public.
