Matsumoto Castle presents a different appearance with each season.
- Spring: Around 300 cherry trees surrounding the castle and the moat come into full bloom. During the day, you can enjoy the view of the remaining snow on the Northern Alps, and at night, the illuminated castle creates a picturesque scene.
- Summer: The lush greenery in April and May is recommended for a visit.
- Autumn: This season has fewer typhoon influences and a high probability of clear skies.
- Winter: It is recommended to see the castle adorned in white snow.
Matsumoto Castle is less crowded on weekdays compared to weekends and public holidays. If you want to avoid crowds, it’s recommended to visit around the opening time at 8:30 am, as it tends to get busier in the afternoon.
