Series Total Exceeding 1 Million Copies: A popular game, “Hakuouki,” serves as the source material for the musical. Known as “HakuMyu,” the musical first debuted in 2012 at the Sunshine Theatre during Golden Week. It received much acclaim for the passionate performances by a cast of talented young actors and the faithful reproduction of the emotionally charged story from the original game.

The combination of the turbulent times of the Bakumatsu era and the setting of a musical resonated well with the audience, particularly with the innovative direction of expressing the Shinsengumi through “stage combat, dance, and song.” Since the premiere of “Saito Hajime Chapter” in 2012, additional main performances, as well as live concert-style events like “HAKU-MYU LIVE,” have been held.

In 2018, under the direction of Daisuke Nishida, the musical “Hakuouki Shitan” was presented in two parts. The “Shitan” series based on “Hakuouki Shinkai” began with the performance of “Hakuouki Shitan Soma Shukei Chapter” in 2021. Celebrating the 10th anniversary in April 2022, the series continued with the revival of the original “Saito Hajime Chapter,” followed by the first “HAKU-MYU LIVE 3” in six years held in the fall of the same year.

In 2023, the series reached its culmination under the direction of Nishida with the performance of “Hakuouki Shinkai Yamanami Keisuke Chapter,” receiving positive reviews. In April 2024, under the leadership of the Mouri clan once again, with a new script, the series presents “Hakuouki Shinkai Hijikata Toshizo Chapter.”
