Naha Hari 2024

The Naha Hari (Naha Dragon Boat Race) is an annual event held in Naha City, Okinawa Prefecture, spanning three days during the Golden Week holiday. It is the largest dragon boat race in Okinawa Prefecture and ranks among the largest events in the region. In addition to the competitive dragon boat races at sea, a variety of events and activities take place over the three days. The organizers, including Okinawa Television, one of the main sponsors, broadcast live coverage and special programs.

As a traditional event, the Naha Hari was originally often held on the 4th day of the 5th month of the lunar calendar. While some locations still adhere to this tradition, the Naha Hari in Naha City now takes place around the 4th of May in the Gregorian calendar. Throughout the festival, there are lively festivities both on land and at sea, and the Okinawa Television network provides live broadcasts and special programs, capturing the excitement of the event for viewers.
