Rikugien Autumn leaves best time 2024
The historically rich Japanese garden adorned with autumn colors:
Located near Komagome Station, Rikugien (Rikugi-en) is a prominent daimyo garden representing the Edo period with its circuit-style landscaped hills and springs. In late November, approximately 400 Japanese maple trees (Iroha Kaede), along with other autumnal foliage such as Japanese wax trees (Doudantsutsuji) and ginkgo trees, totaling around 560 trees, vividly paint the garden. Visitors can enjoy autumn foliage throughout the garden, with particularly stunning views in the western part of the garden around the Suiko-en pond. The Azalea Tea House and Sansui Bridge are especially picturesque.
Highlights:
From November 22 (Wednesday) to December 3 (Sunday), between 18:00 and 20:30 (last entry at 19:30), the “Rikugien Garden Autumn Leaves Night Special Viewing” event will take place. The garden will be illuminated, and projections onto the earthen walls of the storehouse will be featured.
