The Fushiki Hikiyama Festival 2026

The Fushiki Hikiyama Festival is a spring festival held on the third Saturday of May each year in the Fushiki area of Takaoka City, Toyama Prefecture. Originating in the late Edo period, the festival features seven floats, and its highlight is the nighttime collision event where the floats are crashed into one another, making it one of Japan’s three major “fight festivals.” It is also known as the “Fushiki Fighting Floats Festival” and attracts around 90,000 spectators annually. On the preceding Friday evening, the floats are illuminated for a special pre-festival event.
