Todabashi Fireworks 2024
In 1951 (Showa 26), a complex border between Saitama’s Toda Town (now Toda City) and Tokyo’s Itabashi Ward, including an “enclave,” was simplified to create a more understandable and straightforward boundary. This involved a change in the prefectural border between Itabashi and Toda. To commemorate this event, a traditional fireworks festival with a history of over half a century was held.
In the late 1960s, due to construction related to the Toei Mita Line entering the area, the fireworks festival on the Itabashi side was interrupted a couple of times. Additionally, in 2011, the event was canceled due to the impact of the Great East Japan Earthquake.
