Toide Tanabata Matsuri 2024
戸出七夕まつり（Toide Tanabata Matsuri）is a traditional festival held annually from July 3rd to July 7th in the Todachi district of Takaoka City, Toyama Prefecture. In 2023, the festival took place from July 5th (Wednesday) to July 8th (Saturday).
During this festival, 400 Tanabata decorations adorn the streets, creating a “Tanabata Tunnel.” In the evening, lanterns illuminate, creating a fantastical atmosphere.
Todachi Tanabata Matsuri is renowned as the “finest Tanabata festival on the Japan Sea side,” “the oldest Tanabata festival in Japan,” “Japan’s largest Tanabata festival created by residents,” and “Japan’s most beautiful Tanabata festival.”
Due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the festival was canceled in 2020 and 2021, but it resumed in 2022, making a comeback after a hiatus.
