YOSAKOI Soran Festival 2026

The festival originates from the Yosakoi Festival held in Kōchi City, Kōchi Prefecture. In Hokkaido, early June has relatively few major events or tourist attractions capable of drawing visitors from outside the region—unlike the Sapporo Snow Festival. Meanwhile, areas south of Honshu enter the rainy season, leading people to visit Hokkaido as a summer refuge. By holding the YOSAKOI Soran Festival in early June, the event attracts even more tourists, increases tourism revenue, and generates certain economic benefits.
However, there are also some downsides, such as poor manners among some participants and spectators, negative impacts on daily life due to traffic restrictions in places like Odori Park, and noise issues—all of which have led to complaints from Sapporo residents.
