From Tokyo, take the Shinkansen to Kokura Station, where you can change to the Sonic limited express train for Beppu. It takes around 6 hours to complete the one-way trip, and it costs about 25,000 yen. JAL and ANA's standard one-way fares to Oita are approximately 40,000 yen, While Peach and Jetstar's prices begin at about 6,000 yen.

Hyotan Onsen

Hyotan Onsen, located in Beppu City, Oita Prefecture, is a Beppu hot spring with a history dating back to 1922. The name comes from the fact that the rock bath at the time of its establishment was shaped like a gourd. There are 8 types of hot springs, a sand bath, a private family bath, and a restaurant. It is the only hot spring in Japan that has been awarded 3 stars in the Michelin Guide for Tourism. Takiyu and sand baths were highly rated, and were described as the most beautiful hot springs in Beppu. Access by train: 15 minutes by taxi from JR Beppu Station.

Kannawa Onsen


Most of the source of Beppu, which is the largest hot spring in Japan, is concentrated in Kannawa. Kannawa Onsen is home to many of the retro townscapes and the Beppu Jigoku Meguri, which retains a strong remnant of a hot spring resort.

Takegawara Onsen

Takegawara Onsen was established in 1879. The name of Takegawara Onsen is derived from the fact that the bamboo-roofed bathhouse was remodeled to a tile-roofed bathhouse. Effects include neuralgia, and recovery. In addition to the regular baths, you can also experience the famous sand bath. Kamado Hell Onsen (Kimetsu no Yaiba)
