The biggest difference between these two is that Anime Japan doesn't have doujin goods!! (*Doujin goods refer to self-published works like doujinshi created by individuals)

Basic information of Anime Japan

AnimeJapan is one of the world’s largest anime events, featuring anime-related exhibitions, official merchandise, cosplay, special programs, and large-scale stage events.

After being held in Tokyo for many years, AnimeJapan will move its venue to Osaka for 2027 and 2028. AnimeJapan 2027 will be the first-ever Osaka edition of the event.

  • About Stage Lottery: You can apply for up to 5 stages per ticket. If you apply for two consecutive seats, you can secure paired seats if you win. Stage event details can be found on the official stage page.
  • Stage Lottery Period: AJ advance sale tickets: Jan 16, 2026 (Fri) 20:00 – Feb 6 (Fri) 18:00. CN Playguide / Animate sales and Goods & Stage Lottery tickets: Feb 27 (Fri) 10:00 – Mar 5 (Thu) 23:59. Please complete your applications within each period.
  • ※1. Same-day tickets can be purchased via the official website, CN Playguide, FamilyMart multi-copy machines, and at the Tokyo Big Sight same-day ticket counter.
  • ※2. Fast tickets grant priority entry only. They do not allow entry by themselves; a separate Admission Ticket or Same-day Ticket is required.
  • Children of elementary school age or younger may enter for free, but to watch AJ Stage events, a ticket with stage lottery rights and application are required.

Coplay!


Cosplaying is allowed at Anime Japan!! To participate in cosplay, cosplay registration is needed in addition to your entry ticket! There's also an early morning changing room and cloakroom available!

Cosplay Basic Information
Registration Fee: ¥1,000 (tax included) per day
Registration Location: Cosplay reception (in front of the changing room)
Changing Room Hours: 9:00~17:00 (last reception at 16:30)
Cloakroom Hours: 9:00~16:30
Early Morning Use: Both changing room and cloakroom available from 7:00~8:30
Cosplay Area (East Hall 7): 9:00~17:00
Outside Cosplay Area (Outside East Hall 7): 9:00~16:30

Important Notes
  • To cosplay, you need to register via acosta! or reception desk.
  • To register, you need ￥1,000.
  • You cannot enter, leave, or return in cosplay.
  • If you go outside the venue, be sure to change out of your costume.
  • When taking photos, get the cosplayer's permission.
  • Wearing costumes that makes others uncomfortable is not allowed.
  • Other acts considered malicious by the organizers may also be prohibited.

Is that equipment okay?


Since Anime Japan is held in late March, it is quite cold! Also, since the venue is near Tokyo Bay, there can be wind, and it might feel colder than the actual temperature... Therefore, it's good to bring items for cold weather, such as a scarf, gloves, and a light jacket that can be easily taken off for temperature adjustment!!

Also, don't forget to bring essentials like your Smartphone, Mobile battery for charging, Camera for taking cosplay, Passport, Bag for goodies, Games to play during wait times, and small snacks!

Here, we introduce some popular hotels around INTEX Osaka, the venue for AnimeJapan 2027.



The map and list above include selected popular hotels near INTEX Osaka. Since INTEX Osaka is located in the Nanko area of Osaka, hotels around Cosmosquare, Nakafuto, Trade Center-mae, and Sakishima are convenient options if you want to stay close to the venue.

However, during large events like AnimeJapan, hotels near the venue may fill up quickly and room prices can become higher than usual. Hotels close to INTEX Osaka are especially convenient, but they may also be more expensive because of their location. If you are planning to stay for two nights or more, the total cost can become quite high.

If you want to stay near the venue, early booking is strongly recommended. If you want to save money, it may be better to look for hotels a little farther away from the venue. Areas such as Bentencho, Hommachi, Namba, Umeda, and Shin-Osaka may offer more hotel options if you do not mind taking the train.

Capsule hotels and internet cafes can also be cheaper options. However, stations and trains may be crowded on the event days, so make sure to allow extra time when traveling to the venue.

As mentioned briefly above, at Anime Japan, you can see stages featuring voice actors and staff members involved in anime! Stage applications for AJ Official Pre-sale are open from Jan 16, 20:00 to Feb 6, 18:00. For CN Playguide/Animate sales and Goods & Stage bundled tickets, applications are open from Feb 27, 10:00 to Mar 5, 23:59. For Admission w/ Stage Rights for Overseas tickets, applications are open from Jan 16, 20:00 to Feb 24, 23:59. Be sure to not forget it!!
