Additionally, the dates listed below for Comitia events in various regions are those officially announced as of now. (2025/06/30)
Hokkaido COMITIA is one of the smaller-scale COMITIA events, with around 1,500 participants. This makes it a great event for those who prefer a relaxed pace while browsing doujinshi circles. It’s typically held twice a year at the Sapporo Convention Center. The next event is scheduled for June. Check the official website for the latest details.
Michinoku COMITIA is a small-scale doujinshi event, similar in size to Hokkaido COMITIA, with around 1,000 attendees per event. Its smaller size allows visitors to leisurely browse each circle (booth) at their own pace. The event is based in Fukushima, with Sendai and Utsunomiya editions considered as satellite (branch) locations. Michinoku COMITIA is held twice a year across Big Palette Fukushima, Yume Messe Miyagi (Sendai), and the Tochigi Prefectural Utsunomiya Industrial Exhibition Hall. The next Sendai event is scheduled for July 13, 2025. For the latest updates, check the official website.
Niigata COMITIA, commonly known as Gataket, is an all-genre doujinshi exhibition and sales event held in Niigata City for over 30 years. Admission requires presenting an event catalog at the entrance, making it a de facto paid-entry event. Compared to other COMITIA events, Niigata COMITIA is slightly larger in scale, with about 5,000 participants. Only at Niigata COMITIA (not at regular Gataket events), cosplay is allowed, making it a very enjoyable event for cosplayers as well. It’s held frequently, roughly every other month. The next major events in Niigata are: Cosplay Gataket in May, Niigata COMITIA in June, Gataket 181 in July, and Gataket 182 in November. For details, check the official website.
COMITIA is a large-scale doujinshi event held four times a year in Tokyo (typically in February, May, August, and November). It is strictly focused on original (self-created) works—meaning no fan works or secondary creations based on existing anime or manga. The organizing committee describes it as an "Independent Comic Magazine Exhibition and Sale." The event is often nicknamed "TIA" by fans.
Among the four annual events, the May edition is the largest, designated as an "expanded event" with more exhibitor spaces. The November event follows in scale, while the February edition tends to have fewer participants. The August COMITIA often sees a drop in attendance as it takes place right after the massive Comic Market (Comiket). Even so, each COMITIA attracts tens of thousands of attendees, making it one of the largest original doujinshi events in Japan. In 2025, events are scheduled for February, June, September, and November. For more information, visit the official website.
Kansai COMITIA is one of the largest regional COMITIA events in Japan, with around 5,000 attendees per event. It is second in scale only to the Tokyo COMITIA. The event is usually held twice a year, alternating between INTEX Osaka and Kyoto Pulse Plaza. For more details, check the official website.
COMITIA starts at 11:00 AM. Unlike Comiket, there is no need to line up early at the first train. Since it is not very large, it is the most recommended event for beginners attending doujinshi events!
