Comic Market (Comiket)

Anime enthusiasts and fans of Japanese pop culture should definitely consider attending the number one anime event, Comic Market, commonly known as Comiket! Comiket is held twice a year, in August and December, at Tokyo Big Sight. It is one of the most exciting anime and doujinshi (fan-made comics) events in Japan. If you're in Japan or planning to visit during these times, attending Comiket is a must!

AnimeJapan

The second event is "Anime Japan"!! Anime Japan is one of the largest anime events in Japan, ranking second in popularity after Comic Market! The most significant difference between these two is the absence of doujin goods. (Doujin goods refer to self-published materials such as doujinshi, created by individuals.) At "Anime Japan," only official merchandise from companies is sold as official goods, and there are no doujin goods available. Additionally, Anime Japan features stage events that are not present at Comic Market. These stage events offer opportunities to see popular voice actors and other attractions. Moreover, the content primarily revolves around anime and cosplay. So, if you're not particularly interested in anime, then Comic Market might be more suitable for you!

Animelo Summer Live

The anime event I highly recommend for the third spot is "Animelo Summer Live," commonly known as Anisama! Anisama is the world's largest event with numerous participants, featuring prominent anime song artists, popular voice actors, and unexpected secret guests who have made significant contributions in the year leading up to the event! It's a fantastic opportunity to hear your favorite anime songs live and discover new tunes that you might not encounter in your usual playlist!

The fifth event is Aniplex Fest! This event started in 2020 and, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, has been held online every year until this year! However, it has been announced that next year, in celebration of its 20th anniversary, it will be held offline as "Aniplex 20th Anniversary" on January 7, 2024 (Sunday)! The participating artists and cast include: Aimer, Galileo Galilei, ClariS, Kessoku Band, Masayuki Suzuki, DOES, Shoko Nakagawa, MAISONdes feat. Kaf, Tsumiki, LiSA, Reol, and many others!
