Anime Events

Biggest Doujinsji event for Ladies!

What is Comic City

Comic City is likely the second-largest doujinshi convention in Japan. It’s especially known as the largest female-oriented doujin event in the world, held several times a year in Tokyo, Fukuoka, and Osaka. While large in scale, it’s less crowded than Comiket, making it ideal for those who want to browse and shop for doujinshi and merchandise at a relaxed pace.

Similar events include COMITIA and Comiket. At COMITIA, you won’t find existing anime-related goods like "Attack on Titan" merchandise, as it focuses solely on original works. (Comic City, on the other hand, features both anime-based fan works and original creations.)

Comiket tends to lean more towards male-oriented content, though some female-focused goods are available. For more details about Comiket, check here.

In 2019, Comic City welcomed a total of 690,000 visitors, making it the second-largest after Comiket. If you plan to attend, we recommend arriving early. Especially if you’re after specific merchandise, it’s best to get there on the first train.

In short, if you’re looking for otome games, BL, or handsome male character goods targeted at female fans, Comic City is highly recommended over both Comiket and COMITIA.

Transportation and Hotels to Comic City Tokyo

This section provides information on the main transportation options and nearby accommodation facilities (hotels) to be used on the day of Comic City Tokyo.

Transportation (Train)

First, let's talk about the trains, which are the most commonly used means of transportation on the day of Comic City Tokyo. The stations near the Comic City Tokyo venue are Kokusai Tenjijo Station, Tokyo Big Sight Station, and Ariake Station. In general, you will use one of these three stations.

Kokusai Tenjijo Station (Rinkai Line)
When you think of Comic City Tokyo, this is the station. Connected to JR Yamanote Line, JR Keihin-Tohoku Line, JR Saikyo Line, JR Keiyo Line, and Tokyo Metro Yurakucho Line, it is well-connected, making it the most used station. Therefore, for first-timers, we recommend using Kokusai Tenjijo Station. Also, there have been reports that at C102, people joined the front of the early entry queue from trains arriving at the station close to the recommended arrival time. However, we do not strongly recommend this. It is advisable to go to the venue as early as possible, especially if you have specific items you really want to get.

Ariake Station (Yurikamome Line)
One of the stations near Kokusai Tenjijo Station. At C101, the waiting area for entering the East Hall was in Symbol Promenade Park in front of Tokyo Bay Ariake Washington Hotel. Exiting the ticket gate and heading in the direction of 1A and 1B will take you to Tokyo Big Sight and Symbol Promenade Park.

Tokyo Big Sight Station (Yurikamome Line)
The closest station to the Comic City Tokyo venue, Tokyo Big Sight. It is the most convenient location, being a 3-minute walk (shortest route) to Tokyo Big Sight. Even Na-chan would be surprised. Heading towards the South Exit 2A and 2B, you can reach Tokyo Big Sight. This is recommended for those entering the circle.

Transportation (Bus)

There are several bus stops near the Comic City Tokyo venue, and you can take a bus to Tokyo Big Sight. Some express buses from places like Osaka also stop near Tokyo Big Sight. You can check the boarding and alighting locations at each bus stop on the map below. (Temporary buses will run on the day of Comic City Tokyo. We will update the article as information becomes available.)

Transportation (Other)

Taxi
Recommended for those who want a more comfortable mode of transportation than buses or trains and don't want to be constrained by the first train. However, taxis in Japan are expensive, and their use is not recommended by the organizing committee. If you don't have a phone number in Japan, you can arrange a taxi through the front desk of your hotel or an app.

Water Bus
Recommended for those who want to use a slightly different mode of transportation. Near Tokyo Big Sight, there is a water bus operated by TOKYO CRUISE, but unfortunately, there are no plans for operation at this time. We will update this article as information becomes available.

IC Cards
This refers to transportation IC cards such as Suica and Pasmo. These cards are used when riding trains or buses. On the day of Comic City Tokyo, stations are expected to be very crowded, so there may not be much time to buy tickets. Before heading to the venue, charge at least about ¥2,000 round trip between your place of residence and the venue on your IC card.
